Der Nachtfalter
The Name
Der Nachtfalter is a German phrase for “the Moth.” I happen to like moths, and “moth” is part of my name. There are a few cool things about moths too:
- Moths are night creatures but are attracted to the light (especially fire . . . hehehehe)
- There are vampire moths.
- Even cooler (and possibly more morbid and disturbing) some moths actually feed on the tears of other creatures
- If you draw a heart and turn it upside down, you have a moth (just add antennae). I like the idea of upside-down heart moths.
- One of my favorite poems (though it didn’t quite make my top ten list) is the lesson of the moth which raises a very interesting question about the value of beauty and how far an artist (or anyone) should go in its name.
